GOD IS GOOD

MY NAME IS JACK AND I AM A BELIEVER IN JESUS CHRIST.

I WAS NOT ALWAYS THIS WAY.
I DID NOT FOLLOW WHAT YOU MIGHT CALL THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW PATH, I WENT TO CHURCH FOR YEARS. PEOPLE WOULD TALK OF A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS, I JUST DIDN'T GET IT. FOR YEARS I WAS GOING NO WHERE FAST. I EVENTUALLY BECAME WHAT YOU MIGHT CALL A FUNCTIONING ALCOHOLIC.

I DID NOT DRINK AT WORK OR GO TO WORK DRUNK, I THOUGHT I HID MY DRINKING PRETTY WELL. AS I GREW MORE FOND OF BEER I WAS CERTAIN THE ANSWER TO MY PROBLEMS WAS MORE BEER.
IT GOT OUT OF CONTROL.

I HAD PROBLEMS AND DID NOT WANT TO ADMIT IT, MY LOVING WIFE TOLARATED MY ACTIONS, SHE DID NOT CONDONE IT, BUT SHE NEVER STOPPED PRAYING FOR ME . MY CHILDREN KNEW, (EVEN WHEN I THOUGHT THEY DID NOT KNOW) HOW BAD I HAD GOTTEN.

ONE EVENING A GOOD FRIEND INVIVED ME TO COME TO CHURCH AND EVEN THOUGH I MADE EXCUSES, I FINALLY SAID I WOULD GO. THAT NIGHT I ASKED GOD FOR HELP,AND SAID.
"I CAN"T DO THIS ANYMORE" .

SHORTLY AFTER THAT GOD BROUGHT A MAN INTO MY LIFE FROM THE CHURCH. I WAS NEW TO THE CHURCH AND DID NOT ATTEND OFTEN SO I DIDNOT KNOW MANY PEOPLE. WITHIN 2 MINUTES OF OUR MEETING HE WAS TELLING ME OF HOW HIS LIFE HAS CHANGED, HOW DRUGS HAD BEEN A WAY OF LIFE FOR HIM, BUT, JESUS CHANGED ALL THAT. HE INVITED ME TO COME TO A GROUP CALLED "CELEBRATE RECOVERY",(unsure what to expect) I WENT.

Celebrate Recovery is a place for people with Hurts, Habits, or Hang-ups.

HURTS: the feeling of being hurt is an emotional reaction to another person's behavior or to a disturbing situation.(abuse,abandoment,co-dependency,divorce,or relationship issues)

HABITS: A habit is an addiction to Someone or something (alcoholism,drugs,food,gambling,sex,shopping,or smoking)

HANG-UPS: Hang-ups are negative mental attitudes that are used to cope with people or adversity.(Anger, depression, fear or unforgiveness)

This group of men and women showed me what Jesus love was all about, by example and by the stories they are willing to share so others may take part in this amazing spiritual adventure, and I am proud to say that the man who first shared his faith, is my sponsor.

I share this testomony not to say look what I can do, but to tell you of the GRACE of GOD, through JESUS CHRIST his son.

0n November 6, 2009, I celebrated 18 months since I have had anything alcoholic drink. I am Happy to say on June 14, 2009 I was Baptized. (Thank You Pastor Rocky)

Prayer for Serenity

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot chance.
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next,
Amen.
